Book 2, Post 1

 I have chosen to read "The No-Nonsense Guide to Climate Change: The Science, the Solutions, and the Way Forward" by Danny Chivers. The reason I chose this book is that I am passionate about sustainability and, in particular, ocean conservation efforts. I am currently in a class at USC called Green Entrepreneurship, and it has been fascinating learning about different sustainable and environmentally friendly businesses. So I am hoping to supplement my studies and learn more about how to save the environment by reading this book. 


What I have read so far is the introduction to the book provided by the author, Danny Chivers. He explains that climate change is an immediate issue that we need more time to resolve. He shares that this book is concise but holds vital information about our environment and climate. I am looking forward to reading this book, not only so that I can better understand our current state but also to explain it to others better.

World We Dare to Imagine, Part 3

 Kelp Help Foundation (KHF)  About us:  Currently, one of the largest contributing factors to climate change is CO2 emissions. Here at Kelp Help Foundation, we are determined to reduce the amount of carbon emissions in the atmosphere to net 0 by using the power of kelp forests. Kelp can pull carbon dioxide from the air through carbon sequestration. An overview of this process is when the kelp absorbs the CO2 from the air into the kelp tissue. When the kelp breaks from their bed, it floats to the bottom of the ocean, and the CO2 gets sequestered into deep ocean sentiment. Book 1 Post 1

    The book that I chose to read was "American Like Me" by America Ferrera. There were two reasons I decided to read this book, the first being that I loved watching America in movies such as "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants." Secondly, being Latina myself, I was interested in learning more about her story. In the book, she discusses her upbringing and all the trials and tribulations she experienced with her first name being America. Such as the first day of school, classmates bullying her, and her internal struggle with personal identity. Then each following chapter is written by different people who inspire America. The book is written engagingly and feels like a friend telling you a story.     What I have taken away from this book is that each person's experience, while different, has core similarities.
